The Wiley World Handbook of Existential Therapy, Book launch. 19 September 2019

We would like to thank you all for coming to the book launch of ‘The Wiley World

Handbook of Existential Therapy’ with Dr Alfried Laengle and Emmy van Deurzen. These

two world-renowned psychologists had many of us engrossed with their presentation.

Amongst other things, the co-authors discussed at length the ongoing political crisis in the

UK and their views on the existential meaning of Brexit.

Emmy Van Deurzen began by quoting from the book, discussing how we can “make sense of (the) fragile fleeting moments of existence” and went on to speak about the recovery of anxiety and the ever-evolving state of Existential Analysis across the world in 2019.

Dr Laengle followed this by delving into Brexit, describing it as “a type of freedom and Existential Analysis as a form of psychotherapy uniquely on freedom".
